The lighting ring consists of 6 high-intensity white LED lights mounted on a removable printed circuit card. This provides good close-up lighting useable to distances of approximately 15 inches. For longer range viewing, the RCS-400 can be used with an auxiliary light such as the UL-212. The RCS-400 is normally supplied with an 8mm focal length lens head which is well matched with the illumination field from the LED lights, and provides high resolution for inspection applications. This lens head provides a horizontal field of view of 23.4 degrees in air and 17.6 degrees underwater (tables are provided showing horizontal field size at various distances). If a wider angle viewing field is needed, an optional 4mm lens head is available. This provides a horizontal field of view of 45.0 degrees in air and 33.5 degrees underwater. Interchanging lens heads is simple. Simply unscrew one and replace it with another. The RCS-400 camera housing is made of 300 series stainless steel for corrosion resistance, and the viewing window is non-browning fused quartz.. Modular construction is utilized throughout for easy replacement of the CCD camera module, LED lighting ring, focus motor, or other components. The attached tables show the in-air and underwater effective scene illumination at various distances while using the LED lighting, and with a single UL-212 light. With the 8mm f/2.8 lens installed, the minimum scene illumination (50% signal level) is 8 lux. With the LED lights, the underwater scene illumination at 14 inches is 97.22 lux, or a little over 10 times the minimum. The tables for the UL-212 light have one column for a 30 degree bulb (1300 candela), and another for a 10 degree bulb (5850 candela). With the 30 degree bulb, we have approximately 10 times the minimum illumination level at a distance of 10 feet. With the 10 degree bulb, this level is achieved at a distance of approximately 17 feet. SPECIFICATIONS

The
RCS-400 camera is a miniature high resolution S-video format color TV camera
with remote focus control and a built-in ring of high-intensity white LED
lights. It can be used in air or underwater to depths of 200 feet. With an
outside diameter of only one inch and a focus control range of 0.6 inches to
infinity, the RCS-400 camera is ideal for inspection applications where space is
at a premium.
