PTE-200

PAN AND TILT

The PTE-200 is a versatile, compact, high torque (25 foot pounds) pan and tilt designed for long term operation with heavy loads both in-air and underwater at depths to 200 feet. It is designed to handle a wide variety of camera and lighting packages.

The scan range for both axes is 360 degrees. When equipped with the YK-100 stainless steel yoke assembly, the tilt range is a full 180 degrees, allowing the camera to point from straight down to straight up with no interference due to the connector location.
Equipped with low voltage, variable speed motors, the pan and tilt scanning speed can be adjusted to match the task being performed.

  • LARGE SPEED RANGE
  • VARIABLE SPEED
  • HIGH RESOLUTION ENCODERS
  • HIGH TORQUE

This is particularly important for use with the new zoom TV cameras with large zoom ranges and high magnification in the “zoomed in” position. With a large speed range of approximately 0.1 to 1.2 RPM (0.6 to 7.2 deg/sec), the camera and lighting system can be rapidly moved into position, or can be slowly scanned during detailed high magnification inspections. For example, with a “zoomed in” field of view of 2.7 degrees a conventional fixed speed 1 RPM pan and tilt would scan the entire field of view in only 0.45 seconds. With the slow speed of 0.1 RPM, the field scanning time is slowed to 4.5 seconds.

The PTE-200 is equipped with high resolution encoders on both axes to provide angular reference information which can be recorded together with the TV image. These encoders are used to provide limit stops for both axes that can be re-set electrically at the controller. The availability of angular feedback information also provides reference information to document inspections, and lends itself well to computer controlled inspection procedures.

The input connector for the PTE-200 is mounted on the pan hub of the pan and tilt. This configuration allows the connector and cable to remain stationary during pan and tilt motions, minimizing the “swept out volume” required for installation of the unit, and eliminating flexing of the pan and tilt input cable during operations.

The housing and external components are made of hard anodized aluminum for reduced weight and corrosion resistance. The unit is sealed for underwater use to 200 feet, and for easy decontamination. Multiple bearings are used to support both the pan and tilt output shafts. Quad ring rotating shaft seals are used for high sealing reliability.
